The town of Putnam Valley, New York is in Putnam County NY and is the first Town north of Westchester County, New York. The hamlet of Shrub Oak, New York, contained in the Town of Carmel, NY is to its east. Yorktown, New York in Westchester County lies to its south, the Town of Kent, New York to its northeast and the Town of Philipstown, New York to its northwest and the Village of Cold Spring, New York to its west.

Many speeding tickets are written by New York State Troopers in the town of Putnam Valley because the Taconic State Parkway runs through its entire length.

If you are given a speeding ticket or other moving violation such as failure to stay right, following too close (tailgaiting) or running a stop sign or red light in the Town of Putnam Valley, your ticket will be returned to the Putnam Valley Justice Court at 265 Oscawana Lake Road. The court only meets for traffic tickets at 4:00 pm on Tuesdays, and 9:00 am on Thursdays. Both of these times are inconvenient to the general public because they are during regular business hours.
